Boom Goes The Stigma

Welcome to Boom Goes The Stigma! BGTS is a production of the Construction Suicide Prevention Partnership (CSPP). According to the CDC, the construction industry has the second-highest rate of suicide and has one of the highest rates of death from overdoses. Our country loses more construction workers to suicide than to Jobsite injuries or accidents. BGTS is a tool that normalizes and elevates the conversation around mental health. On every episode, guests from within and outside the construction industry discuss critical issues, share stories, and, most importantly, blow up the stigma of talking about mental wellness as a sign of weakness.

Emily Haro

Emily Haro is the Outreach Coordinator for the Construction Suicide Prevention Partnership. She has first-hand experience working with construction and development companies and understands the complexity and challenges workers face around mental health in the construction industry.

Emily has a B.S. in Psychology from Oregon State University. She is passionate about raising awareness about mental health. Emily enjoys reading, knitting, skateboarding, and dancing.

In her free time, Emily enjoys spending quality time with her family. Her work focuses on breaking down the stigma around talking about suicide, meeting the needs of community partners, and spreading CSPP’s mission to a diverse audience.
